Kirill Popov, Uzbekistan native, began dancing ballet when he was 10 years old. 

After graduation from the Perm State Choreographic College, Kirill danced on multiple stages: Perm Theater, Cheboksary Theater, Ufa Theater, Izhevsk Theater, Ekaterinburg Theater, Stanislavsky Theater, Bolshoi Theater, Moscow RAMT Theater, as well as theaters in Italy, Germany, Australia, South Africa, China, performing solo parts in such ballets as Swan Lake (Prince Siegfried, Rothbart), The Nutcracker (Prince, Mouse King, Spanish Dance), Sleeping Beauty (Prince, Blue Bird), Giselle (Count Albert), Don Quixote (Basil), Carmen (Jose), Romeo and Juliet (Romeo). 

Kirill doesn’t have an “unfavorite” part in the ballet, but there are characters who are difficult in acting and physical terms, and initially you think “Oh, I hate this part,” but once you get to know it and overcome the diffculties, your thoughts change, you start praising yourself: “You did great!” But there is my least favorite movement in ballet and it is called Battement Tendu. 

Kirill’s first solo part was in La Bayadère. It remained his all time favorite part. 

His best advice to an aspiring ballet dancer is “Learn to learn. Accept criticism, be able to remember, realize, and learn from the mistakes of others.”
