Synopsis

Act I

Scene One: The Birth of Princess Aurora

In a joyful kingdom where music, laughter, and kindness fill everyday life, a long-awaited princess is born. The King and Queen welcome fairies from across the enchanted realm, each offering baby Aurora a magical gift—beauty, grace, kindness, joy, and a loving heart.

Before the Lilac Fairy can present her blessing, the palace suddenly grows dark. Carabosse, the powerful Fairy of Darkness, appears. Furious that she was not invited, she places a terrible curse upon Aurora: on her eighteenth birthday, the princess will prick her finger on a needle and die.

The Lilac Fairy cannot undo the curse, but she softens it. Aurora will not die—she will fall into a deep enchanted sleep, from which only true love can awaken her.

Determined to protect their daughter, the King and Queen prohibit every needle in the kingdom. For eighteen years, not a single needle is allowed within its borders—or so everyone believes.

Scene Two: Aurora’s 18th Birthday

Aurora grows into a beautiful young lady with a brave and rebellious spirit. The palace comes alive for her eighteenth birthday as guests from beloved fairy tales arrive to congratulate her. Music, dancing, and magic fill the celebration, while the fairies return to watch over the princess.

Everyone believes Aurora is finally safe: every needle has been removed from the kingdom. But no one has thought of the sharp thorn hidden beneath the petals of a rose.

Amid the festivities, a mysterious guest offers Aurora a beautiful flower. The princess takes it and pricks her finger on its needle-like thorn. The stranger reveals herself as Carabosse, and Aurora falls under the curse.

The Lilac Fairy appears and fulfills her promise. With a wave of her wand, she places the entire kingdom under a gentle spell. Everyone falls asleep beside Aurora, waiting for the day when true love will awaken them.

Act II

Scene Three: The Spell of True Love

Many years later, Prince Désiré wanders through the forest, longing for a love he has never found. The Lilac Fairy appears and reveals a magical vision of Aurora. Captivated by the mysterious princess, Désiré follows the Fairy toward the sleeping kingdom.

Carabosse and her creatures try to stop him, but the Prince refuses to turn back. Guided and protected by the Lilac Fairy, he reaches Aurora and awakens her with a kiss. As Aurora opens her eyes, the spell is broken and the entire kingdom returns to life.

Scene Four: A Celebration of Love

Light, laughter, and music return to the joyful kingdom. Aurora and Désiré celebrate their love, surrounded by the King and Queen, the fairies and the royal court.

Carabosse’s curse has been defeated, and the kingdom rejoices in a magnificent celebration filled with wonder, dancing, and magic. Aurora and her Prince step forward together, ready to begin their happily ever after.
