About

Diana Chemilevskaya was born in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, in the town of Dyurtyuli. She began dancing at the age of five, focusing on classical ballet from the very beginning.

At ten, she was accepted into the Boris Eifman Dance Academy in Saint Petersburg. During her training, she performed on the stages of the Mariinsky and Alexandrinsky Theatres. After six years of study — despite strong academic results — Diana made the independent decision to leave the Academy in order to explore her own artistic path.

While studying, she discovered contemporary dance and developed a deep interest in physical expression and storytelling through movement. She later worked with the Hermitage Theatre, collaborated with Yuri Smekalov’s MAD Company, and served as an assistant choreographer at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

Diana’s dream is to communicate ideas, emotions, and stories through the language of the body and to connect with audiences across cultures.

Her favorite contemporary ballet is Shoot the Moon by NDT, and her favorite classical ballet is The Master and Margarita (Edward Clug’s version), especially the character of Behemoth the Cat.

To young ballet dancers, she advises honest self-evaluation, openness to feedback, and the courage to seek guidance. To herself, she would say: continue doing what you truly love — and never be afraid of bold life changes.
