Liudmila Ulantsava was born in Kazakhstan and moved to Belarus at the age of two. At ten, she was accepted into the Belarusian State Choreographic Gymnasium-College in Minsk, marking her first serious step toward a professional dance career. In 2014, she joined the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, where she performed leading roles in both classical and neoclassical ballets. After seven years with the company, she began touring internationally across Europe and Japan, an experience that deepened her understanding of how art can connect with any audience.
Favorite Ballet and/or Favorite Ballet Role:
Her all-time favorite character is the Swan in Swan Lake, a role that reflects both the delicate purity of Odette and the passionate cunning of Odile, brought to life through Tchaikovsky’s music
Favorite Fairytale Characters:
Belle and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast — for their story of love, acceptance, and transformation
Most Difficult Ballet Movement:
“Not necessarily most difficult, but least favorite, honestly? Jumping! It’s something I do because I have to, not because I love it”
Artistic Aspiration:
To explore the world through art and share her inner strength with others, leaving a lasting trace in the soul of every audience
Advice to Young Dancers:
“Learn to understand why you do every movement — whether on stage or at the barre. Search for meaning, feel deeply, and analyze. Ballet is not just technique — it is an honest dialogue with yourself and your audience. And also — learn to accept. Art is not always perfect, but it is precisely in its imperfection that true magic is born.”
